Is Michele Bachmann in Danger of Defeat?

Without a doubt one of the most insane and untethered from reality members of the Congressional GOP is failed presidential nominee candidate Michele Bachmann who, among other things owns a "Christian counseling center" with her husband Marcus "Marcia" Bachmann that markets fraudulent and discredited "ex-gay" therapy. Perhaps because of her failed presidential campaign and other outbursts of insanity, new polls in Bachmann's home district suggest that she may be in trouble in terms of her re-election effort, with independent voters fleeing her in droves and her once commanding lead whittled down to within the margin of error.  I won't make any bones about the fact that I would LOVE to see Bachmann voted out of office.  The country does not need lunatics like Bachmann in public office.  First, these highlights from Salon:

Despite her national fan base and a massive war chest, Rep. Michele Bachmann may be in more danger than most suspect, with a new poll showing her lead diminished to just 2 points. Independent voters have swung against her by nearly 20 points in just two months, from a 4 percent advantage to a 15 point disadvantage.

Overall, the poll shows Bachmann leading Graves 48-46 percent, within the margin of error. The race has moved significantly among independents, with a 20-point net shift toward Graves, from a 41-45 percent disadvantage in June to a 52-37 percent lead now. Among independents, Bachmann’s favorability rating has slipped 4 points while her unfavorability rating has jumped 7 points. Overall, she’s viewed mostly negatively. Among all voters, 40 percent give her a positive job rating, while a sizable 57 percent give her a negative one, with a plurality of 35 percent giving the most negative answer possible — “poor.”
Politicususa has additional details.  Here are excerpts:

A new poll suggests that tea party darling Michele Bachmann is in serious danger of losing her House seat to Democrat Jim Graves.

The poll, which was first shared with Salon, found that Bachmann now leads Graves, 48%-46%. Bachmann has gone from a 45%-41% lead with Independents to now trailing 52%-37%. The biggest indicator of how much voters have soured on Bachmann is that 57% of those surveyed gave a fair/poor job approval rating.

Even though her popularity is on the wane in her district, Rep. Bachmann will be difficult to beat because of the massive war chest ($15 million) she has accumulated. Bachmann also has been heavily supported and funded by the national Republican Party. Michele Bachmann is a right wing media darling who is welcome to go on Fox News, Glenn Beck, or any other conservative media outlet and beg for dollars at any time.
