States Where It Is Legal for Chick Fil-A to Fire Gay Employees

As the above image indicates, Dan Cathy and the anti-gay forces at Chick Fil-A are free to fire LGBT employees at will in the majority of states in America.  It should also be noted that groups funded by Chick Fil-A and the Cathy family work very hard in these states to defeat any and all attempts to win LGBT citizens employment nondiscrimination protections.  Virginia is a case in point:  Family Research Council's  Virginia affiliate, The Family Foundation ("TFF"), has an anti-gay rights agenda 100% of the time disseminates the lie that gays are pedophiles.  TFF played a major role in the passage of legislation and administrative regulations that allow agencies receiving state funds to discriminate against would be LGBT foster parents and adoptive parents.  As I've said Chick Fil-A is financing much more than "protecting marriage."

Oh come on Michael. Your lawyer ability to slant the truth is coming out.

These red states are not states where it is legal to fire gay guys as your slant your blog piece to seem to say.

They are called right to work states. Right to work is a good thing. It means as a Texan I cannot be REQUIRED to join a union in able to work. It means that unions cannot take money out of my pay check against my will.

I'm a bisexual man and I managed to work my entire life in Texas without ever being fired.

True, in right to work states, a persona can be let go at the will of his employer. But, right to work laws are not aimed at gay people. My gay friends in Texas, a conservative state, work openly for some of the top companies in America. Right to Work is a good thing.

There is enough slanting of the truth in the country just now without you adding to it.

Sorry Jack, but you are WRONG. These are states where it is illegal to fire people based on race, religion, sex, age and national origin, but where no such protections exist when it comes to sexual orientation. Here in Virginia the GOP and the Christianists killed legislation that would have protected state employees. Needless to say those working for private employers are truly open game for bigots.

It is sad that you conflate being able to fire gays and other members of the LGBT community with impunity and the issue of right to work states. Yes, many of these red states are right to work states but they also deny LGBT citens the kinds of employment protections afforded to all the other citizens.
